Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure a camber over the entire length of a rolled material and to control adequately the camber of the thick plate by making the transverse center of the rolled material to coincide with the center of rolling rolls during the time when the end of the fin from a reversible rolling mill passes a gate.

CONSTITUTION: A rolled material is conveyed in parallel with the center of a rolling mill for thick plate by a roll table T during the time when the fin end (e) from the fin of the previous pass passes the width gauge #1 nearest the rolling mill R on at least either of the front or rear of the rolling mill among camber sensors; therefore, the camber quantity and camber curvature over the range of a specified length λ at the gnawing end of the next path can be measured. The initial gap on the right and left of the rolls in the rolling mill for thick plate in the bitting stage of the next pass is determined simply by calculating the same as a difference between the right and left roll gaps necessary for correcting the same in accordance with the camber quantity and camber curvature.
