PURPOSE: To obviate the occurrence of cutting scratches, burrs, etc., as well as to secure a highly accurate finishing surface, by setting exclusive backward boring stationary cutters to at least three grooves among slit grooves of a multicut tool for boring.
CONSTITUTION: Stationary cutters 7 and 8 are inserted in each slit-groove 6 of a multicut tool 2 and clamped. Each of stationary cutters 7 and 8 is set up in the same distance from the center line of a spindle 1. Boring of a workpiece W is progressively expanded from inner diameters d1 to d2 by rotation of the spindle 1. After expansion of their diameters, the diameter d2 is contracted into a diameter d3 due to elastic deformation. With reverse rotation of the spindle 1, an inner diameter difference Δd is cut by the stationary cutter 8 and thereby a hole of the diameter d2 having a highly accurate finishing surface is secured.
