LOW TEMPERATURE SEPARATION FOR RECOVERING HEAVY HYDROCARBON PRODUCT

Abstract:

PURPOSE: To separate and recover a heavy hydrocarbon product in high efficiency by combining unit processes of a specific cooling, a phase-separating, a rectifying and a stripping.

CONSTITUTION: In a series of steps (A) to condense partly by a cooling gas stream, (B) to separate vapor and liquid components from the partly condensed gas in a phase separator, (C) to form a light gas stream and a heavy liquid stream by rectifying a vapor component by low temperature dephlegmation, (D) to obtain residual stream consisting of heavy hydrocarbon by stripping a liquid component from step B and a heavy liquid stream from step C in the stripping column with a reboiler and (E) to provide a predominant amount of refrigeration for the process from a single loop vapor recompression refrigerator using a mixed refrigerant, the improved process comprises feeding directly liquid components from steps B and C to the stripping column operated at lower temperature than surrounding one, rectifying the generated vapor with a vapor component from step D while feeding it directly to the phase separator of step B, and providing a portion of heat capacity of the reboiler by using the mixed refrigerant used in step E as a heat source of the reboiler.
