Title:
FLAME-RETARDANT COMMUNICATION CABLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06103830
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a communication cable having both preventive performances of flame diffusion and smoke generation as well as having a relatively low dielectric characteristic with flame-resistant requirements satisfied by protecting a core including communication media by means of the formation of a shell layer with specific flame-resistant means. CONSTITUTION: This flame-resistant communication cable 20 is composed of a core 22 containing communication media 32 and flame-resistant means 29. This flame-resistant means 29 consists of a first inorganic oxide component, so called frit, that is melted at about 350 deg.C, a second inorganic oxide component (fined ceramic fiber and/or basalt) that is crystallized at 650 deg.C and a base resin; the flame-resistant means 29 is formed into a shell layer, in the temperature range of about 350 to 1000 deg.C, which jacket insulates the core 22 from heat energy. The base resin is selected from a group composed of polyvinyl chloride, polyolefine, polyurethane and their copolymers.
