PURPOSE: To form a uniform and rigid coating layer of metal and/or metal compd. excellent in preservation stability on a core fine grain by hydrolyzing a metal salt and/or metal alkoxide in an aq. medium wherein the fine core grains are dispersed.
CONSTITUTION: The hydrolyzable salt of a metal other than iron and/or metal alkoxide are added to a reaction medium of water or alcohol wherein the fine core grains of metal, ceramic, org. matter, etc., are dispersed and hydrolyzed. The reaction system is controlled within ±1.5 of the pH where the fine grain of the metal compd. and/or metal alkoxide begins to deposit, hence the metal salt and/or metal alkoxide are hydrolyzed, the extremely fine grain is efficiently adsorbed on the surface of the fine core grain, and a coating layer is formed. The layer is heat-treated, as required, to change its composition.
