Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively prevent the generation of segregation and to make a casting block surface excellent even at the time of producing an 18Mn-5Cr or 18Mn-18Cr base retaining ring material by an ESR method.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of producing the 18Mn-5Cr or 18Mn-18Cr base retaining ring material, the ESR is executed by using a hollow electrode forming a hole along the axial direction in the core part of the electrode. Thus, the molten metal pool shape is made shallow and flat at the time of executing the ESR, and since the generation of the segregation is prevented, the ESR cast block having excellent internal characteristic is obtd. Therefore, the high quality retaining ring material can be produced.
