Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable the plating of an Fe-Ni alloy after only electrolytic treatment without carrying out striking, by combining an electrically conductive salt with an anode activator and a very small amount of potassium gold cyanide and by using the composition as a pretreating agent for the Fe-Ni alloy. CONSTITUTION:This pretreating agent contains KCN, NaCH, a salt of an org. acid such as citric acid or a sulfamate as an electrically conductive salt, an anode activator such as a metallic complex of Ni or Co, and a very small amount of potassium gold cyanide. An Fe-Ni alloy is degreased, activated, and pretreated with a soln. of the pretreating agent at >= about 3.0pH, about 1-8V and room temp. - about 70 deg.C for about 5-120sec.
