PURPOSE: To provide a sheet type absorbent to efficiently remove malodorous components and harmful ions.

CONSTITUTION: The sheet type absorbent made by carrying an adsorptive composition containing a water insoluble phosphate of quadrivalent metal and a hydroxide of divalent metal on a sheet base material, the producing method therefor, a deodorant containing the sheet type absorbent and a carpet containing the deodorant are provided. Both acidic and alkaline materials can be absorbed. This absorbent is excellent in absorbing effect because of having extremely large external specific surface area due to the sheet state and efficient contact with material to be adsorbed and the deterioration of the absorbent performance is recognizable visually by the change of color.
