Abstract:
The propulsion unit consists of a shaft set at an angle to the lengthwise vertical plane of the craft, and a series of semi-submersible blades (1) mounted on the shaft. When the blades are immersed in the water, the pressure side is situated perpendicular to the craft's lengthwise vertical plane. The blades are mounted on the shaft so their position can be varied relative to the lengthwise vertical plane and/or main plane of the craft, e.g. by an angle of up to +/- 30 degrees. The propeller blade angle can be varied, for example, by a mechanism (9) connected to the propeller unit housing (6), which can turn about a pivot (8).
