Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an individual identification by photographic the iris of a person to be identified at a distant position. SOLUTION: The eye 11 of a person 10 to be identified is photographed by a video cameral 40, and a zoom lens 41 is adjusted so that the eye 11 can be settled fully within the screen of a monitor 55. A distance calculation part 51 generates a distance signal DS based on a position signal PS outputted from a zoom mechanism part 42 and applies that signal DS to a laser beam control part 52. The laser beam control part 52 applies an intensity signal IS for emitting a laser beam LZ having optimum intensity corresponding to the distance signal DS to a laser emitting part 53. The laser beam LZ outputted from the laser emitting part 53 is reflected on a half mirror 54 and with this light, the eye 11 of the person 10 to be identified is irradiated. The laser beam LZ reflected on the eye 11 is passed through the half mirror 54 and photographed by the video camera 40. An iris code IR of the eye 11 is generated by an iris code generated part 56 and collated with data in a registration data base 58 by a collation part 57 so that individual identification can be performed.
