Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent effectively recesslike undulation that occurs at the outer surfaces of side wall portions and improve tire appearance and uniformity, by providing at carcass tire axial direction outer side surfaces protection layers covering the end portions of turning up portions. CONSTITUTION:At a radial tire 1, a carcass 7 which forms turning up portions 7B that are turned up from the tire inside to the outside at the perimeters of bead cores 2, at both ends of a main body portion 7A that extends to bead portions 3 from a tread portion 5 via side wall portions 4, is hung around, and at the same time turning up portions 7B are covered with protection layers 10. And the carcass 7 is formed with at least more than one carcass ply. Also, a belt layer 9 provided on the carcass 7 radial outside, for example, is formed into a two layer structure consisting of the 1st and the 2nd belt plies 11, 12 arranged in order. In addition, at a protection layer 10, one continuous reinforcement ply 17 forming a side protection portion 16 is used, and the ply 17 is formed by arranging protection cords at the angle of 30 deg.-60 deg. in regard to a tire circumferential direction.
