Abstract:

PURPOSE: To form a high hardness surface and to ensure superior scuffing and wear resistances and high durability by using a polymer of a specified monomer as the material of a surface layer positioned at the uppermost surface of a photoreceptor.

CONSTITUTION: In an electrophotographic photoreceptor with an electric conductive substrate and a photosensitive layer applied on the substrate, a surface layer positioned at the uppermost surface of the photoreceptor is made of a polymer of a monomer represented by the formula, wherein R is R'-CR"=CH2, R' is an alkyl chain, O, CO, NH or S and R" is H, CH2 or phenyl. Since the monomer polymerizes by radical polymn. but it is a monomer having remarkably high functional group density and the rate of reaction is very high, the polymn. reaction of the monomer proceeds even under mild conditions and hardly damages a photoconductive material excellent in compatibility and dispersibility. Because of the remarkably high functional group density, the resulting polymer has very high hardness and a superior high durability photoreceptor is obtd.
