Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain surely a lens having a desired radiation pattern, by pressing the end part of an optical fiber against a recess of a heated mold to heat and fuse the end part and forming a lens part in the end part of the optical fiber as one body.

CONSTITUTION: The end part of an optical fiber 6 is inserted through a through hole 5 and is pressed against a recess 2 of a heated mold 3 to fuse the end part into a shape corresponding to the recess 2. Thereafter, the mold 3 is cooled to form a hemispherical lens 7. Thus, the end part of the optical fiber 6 is pressed against the hemispherical recess 2, which is finshied specularly, of the heated mold to heat and fuse the end part, and the mold is cooled to form the lens part in the end part of the optical fiber as one body.
