Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a production method for the preformed material by enabling efficiently demolding of a porous form after pressure molding.

CONSTITUTION: This production method is made up of the following four processes: (1) a core material 1 is placed in a mold made of an elastic material; (2) the outer periphery of the core material 1 is filled with silica glass powder; (3) pressure molding is carried out to make a porous form 6 composed of the core material and cladding material; and (4) pressure 7 is applied on one end of the core material 1 while pulling force 8 on the other end to demold the porous form 6.
