Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve on-the-ice performance with maintaining traveling performance and on-the-snow performance by specifying a lateral edge component ration of sipings, and also setting the hardness of tread rubber specifically, in a radial tire on which the sipings are formed on the blocks thereof. CONSTITUTION:The hardness of tread rubber at -5 deg.C is set over 62 degree and less than 68 degree. The total (la) of the tire axial directional components l1-l4 of the length of sipings 12A-12D provided on each block 10 is calculated. The total (la) of all block of a ground face are calculated and totaled to get the sum total S(li) of lateral edge components. The ratio S(li)/L of the sum total to the ground length L of the tire circumferential direction of the ground face is calculated and this value is set over 11 and less than 16. According to this construction, normal road traveling performance, on-the-snow performance and also on-the-ice performance can be improved.
