Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable a small and lightweight member to be used as a frame, while increasing the strength of a vehicle body by arranging a side pillar and a rafter for side and roof bodies in such a way as continuous to the peripheral direction of the vehicle body, and jointing a cross beam for an underframe in such a way as corresponding to the position of the side pillar and rafter. CONSTITUTION:Cross beams 7 are laid between side beams 6 in parallel at the predetermined intervals along the lengthwise direction of a vehicle body. Notches 20 are formed at the joint of side pillars 9 and 10, and a rafter 11 at cant rails 12 and 13. The side pillars 9 and 10, and the rafter 11 are assembled into the notches 20 concerned, and bonded by welding. The aforesaid side pillars 9 and 10, and rafter 11 are such members as having uniform section and continuously laid in the peripheral direction of the vehicle body. If a pressure load acts, a load on the shoulder section of the vehicle body is released to the base materials of the side pillar 10 and rafter 11, in order not to cause a serious strength problem. According to the aforesaid construction, the side pillar 10 and rafter 11 can be constituted of small and lightweight members.
