Abstract:

An analog of human amyloid plaque core protein protease inhibitor wherein the amino acid corresponding to arginine at position 13 in the sequence

is substituted with an aromatic amino acid, said analog exhibiting chymotrypsin inhibitory activity or is substituted with a neutral hydrophobic amino acid, said analog exhibiting human elastase inhibitory activity and method of producing them. Use of the protease inhibitor in the manufacture of a medicament for use in treating acute pancreatitis and method of recovering purified protease inhibitor.
