PURPOSE: To prevent that the developing device is contaminated or color mixtured in an image forming device by the leakage and scattering of a developer into the image forming device from a developing unit, without making the whole of the developing device large in size.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical cover member 41 extended between both side plate member 55 and 57 provided on both end parts in the longitudinal direction of a developing unit and having the opening of a part opposite to a photosensitive belt A is provided. The cover member 41 is closely stuck to the outer peripheries of the sliding parts 55b and 57b of the side plate members 55 and 57 and abutted on the stopper parts 55c and 57c of the outside diameters larger than those of the sliding parts 55b and 57b through the edges, and positioned in the longitudinal direction. The cover member 41 is provided so as to extend between the side plate members 55 and 57, without covering them, so that the leakage and scattering of the developer from the developing device can be avoided without making the whole of the developing device 4 large in size.
