PURPOSE: To enable smooth feeding by fitting elastic rings in a plurality of peripheral grooves disposed on a rigid cylindrical support at fixed intervals to form a comblike roller so that the right and left gaps between adjacent rings can be automatically compensated by generated thrust.

CONSTITUTION: Disk elastic rings 8, 9 are fixedly fitted in peripheral grooves 61, 71 having required width and depth disposed on metallic or resin rigid cylindrical supports 6, 7 at fixed intervals P to form comblike rollers. The relative axial positions of the rollers 1, 2 are determined by clutch elements 17, 18. As a core sleeve 7 of the roller 2 is fixed to a driving shaft 22 by sliding key mechanisms 34, 35 permitting the driving shaft to move in direction of thrust, if any difference in right and left relative gaps g1 and g2 of the rings 8, 9, a sheet is bent largely on the narrower gap side to generate large thrust f1, so that the sheet is settled down at a position having equal gaps g1, g2. Thus, the relative gaps can be automatically compensated.
