Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the number of words to be stored with the same ROM capacity and to facilitate the reproduction of a character data, by dividing the prescribed bit groups forming a word to be translated into the upper and lower bit sides and then composing the characters for storage. CONSTITUTION:The dictionarie ROMs 3a-3d are added to an electronic device which translates words to store the words. A CPU2 connected to a keyboard 1 and a display control part 4 are connected to the ROMs 3a-3d. When the words to be translated are stored in the ROMs 3a-3d, the bit froups of a prescribed number of bits forming a character are divided into the upper and lower bit sides. Then plural characters are composed and stored. At the same time, the data at the upper bit side of each character is stored on the basis of the character order within a word. Then the data at the lower bit sida of each character is stored based on the character order. Thus the number of words to be stored is increased with the same ROM capacity and the character data is reproduced easily and displayed at a display part 5.
