PURPOSE: To enable a clad-type stationary lead storage battery which has a large capacity and occupies a small floor area to be easily obtained at a low cost by installing positive plates, negative plates and separators in a container so that the plates and the separators are slant from the horizontal direction.

CONSTITUTION: The clads of positive plates 1, negative plates 2 and separators 3 are attached to a frame 4 provided inside a container 5 so that they are slant from the horizontal direction by an angle of around 30°. Straps 1' and 2' are provided, respectively, at the upper sides of the positive plates 1 and the lower sides of the negative plates 2. Such clad-type plates as above realize good gas venting since there are spaces between the clads and the separators 3. In manufacturing such a lead storage battery, plates for batteries with various capacities can be made with one mold and one line, and batteries with various capacities can be easily manufactured.
