PURPOSE: To reduce processing fatigue and pH fluctuation due to air oxidation, and to enable development superior in reversal performance, by adding a specified hydrazine deriv. fogging agent to an internal latent image type silver halide photosensitive matrial, and developing it with a high-pH developing soln.
CONSTITUTION: A silver halide emulsion layer or another hydrophilic colloidal layer contains as a fogging agent a hydrazine derivative having the right formula in which R1 is aryl optionally substd. by alkyl, substd. amino, aliphatic or aromatic amino, or optionally substd. alkyl; and R2 is H, aryl optionally substd. by halogen, CN, or COOH; or optionally substd. alkyl. This photosensitive material is processed with a 11W13pH developing soln. contg. ≥25g/l hydroquinones, thus permitting a direct positive image superior in reversal performance and high in storage stability to be obtained.
