Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stably obtain precipitated light calcium carbonate suitable for papermaking by reacting milk of lime prepared from quick lime having a content of trivalent metal oxide of ≤a specific value with carbon dioxide gas.

CONSTITUTION: Slaked milk of lime prepared by slaking quick lime having a content of R2O3(R is Al or Fe) of ≤0.4wt.% as a trivalent metal oxide is reacted with carbon dioxide gas and carbonated to give precipitated light calcium carbonate having ≥6m2/g BET specific surface area suitable as a filler for paper making.
