Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining that a sign written on a writing surface (2) has been written in the same manner as a previously recorded sign or signs is described. The method comprises for at least a portion of the sign determining at least one temporal characteristic value of the sign related only to one or more of the following temporal characteristics; a) the time during which a writing instrument is in contact with the writing surface, b) the time during which the writing instrument is out of contact with the writing surface, and c) the total time for writing the portion of the sign; determining at least one spatial characteristic value of the portion of the written sign; and comparing the determined temporal and spatial characteristic values with the corresponding prerecorded characteristic values.
