Title:
NONAQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE BATTERY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6058
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress increase of internal resistance in the late stage of discharge in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery by adding metal sulfide to manganese dioxide which is positive active material.

CONSTITUTION: In a battery having a negative electrode comprising light metal such as lithium, sodium, and a positive electrode comprising manganese dioxide, and nonaqueous electrolyte, a proper amount of metal sulfide such as iron sulfide or copper sulfide is added to manganese dioxide. In this nonaqueous electrolyte battery, metal sulfide in the positive electrode reacts on lithium of negative active material, and metal such as iron, copper which has good conductivity is produced. Since this reaction progresses from the middle stage of discharge, increase of internal resistance is suppressed and high voltage in the late stage of discharge is maintained.
