PURPOSE: To provide an inexpensive efficient interface device between a personal computer(PC) and a CD-ROM driver by providing a read/write signal generator, command/reset signal generator which generates command signals and reset signals, etc.

CONSTITUTION: This interface controller is provided with a bus transceiver 4 which is activated by means of a first control signal 101 and transmits data, commands, and state signals in a direction decided by a memory read signal, a control information transmitter 5 which transmits control information to a host computer side in response to a second control signal 102, a read/write signal generator 6, and a command/reset signal generator 7 which inputs an address signal and a driver reset signal and generates a command signal and a reset signal. When the controller is constituted in such a way, a memory mapped I/O type interface utilizing an industrial standard structure bus is realized and an interface device which can be applied between a PC and a CD-ROM driver and can be manufactured at a low cost due to its simple constitution can be obtained.
