Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce encoding distortion by quantizing waveform information based upon respective candidates for plural quantized values corresponding to spectrum envelope information as a trial, calculating encoding distortion and retrieving the quantized value of the spectrum envelope information capable of minimizing encoding distortion. CONSTITUTION: The quantization of waveform information is tried in each of quantized candidates for plural spectrum envelope informations and the combination of spectrum envelope informations capable of minimizing encoding distortion and the wavefrom information is searched to improve the waveform distortion. Namely, quantization point candidates for plural spectrum envelope informations are prepared and a waveform information code is found out in each candidate by a procedure similar to that of a reference system. The obtained waveform code is partially decoded by a partial decoding part 21 by a procedure similar to a decoder. Then, waveform distortion generated as the result of decoding is measured by a waveform distortion measuring part 22 and the combination of codes capable of minimizing distortion is selected by a selector 23 as a transmission code. Consequently waveform distortion can sharply be reduced without increasing transmission information at all.
