Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound that is represented by a specific formula, has a high level of physiological activity and is useful as a pharmaceutical composition as antimicrobial agent with simple handleability because of its crystallinity and non-hygroscopicity.

CONSTITUTION: This is a crystalline p-toluenesulfonic acid salt of 7-[2-(2- aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-(Z)-hydroxyiminoacetamido]-3-N,N- dimethylcarbamoyloxymethyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid (isopropoxycarbonyloxy) ethyl ester that is represented by the formula. For example, the ethyl ester is dissolved or dispersed in a solvent or a mixture thereof and a mixture of a small amount of water with p-toluenesulfonic acid hydrate, particularly its monohydrate, or anhydrous p-toluenesulfonic acid to obtain the objective crystals.
