Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a novel fluorinated alkyl derivative which is useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of active ingredients of agricultural chemicals and medicines and capable of being produced easily and economically.

CONSTITUTION: There is provided a fluorinated alkyl derivative represented by formula I (wherein R is a 2-4C lower alkyl, cyclohexyl, thiophene, phenyl, a 1-6C alkyl, a haloalkyl or a halogen- or alkoxyl-substituted phenyl; and Rf is a fluorinated 1-3C lower alkyl) (e.g. 1,1-bis(phenylthio)-2,2,2- trifluorethylbenzene). A compound of formula I can be obtained by reacting a fluorinated alkyl ketone compound of formula II with thiophenol in the presence of a Lewis acid. It is suitable to use at least one member selected from the group consisting of aluminum chloride, boron trifluoride/diethyl etherate, iron (III) chloride, tin (IV) chloride and titanium (IV) chloride as the Lewis acid. According to this process, the title compounds having various introduced substituents can be easily obtained.
