Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent burnout of a thermocouple, by using an alloy of rhodium and iridium as the material of the thermocouple.
CONSTITUTION: An alloy of 40% rhodium and 60% iridium is used as a material of a thermocouple at a plus side and 100% iridium at a minus side. The precious metal thermocouple is used with temperature control for X-ray refraction of rare earth elements under high temperature.
