Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a tablet unified with a display which can be easily produced at a low cost and is advantageous in terms of space by producing a matrix panel having the row and column electrodes and using the panel for both display and detection of the coordinates. CONSTITUTION:A tablet consists of a thin film EL matrix panel 101 containing the row electrodes y1 - yn and column electrodes x1 - xn, a row electrode driver 102, a column electrode driver 103, an x-coordinate detecting part 108, a y-coordinate detecting part 107, and a pencil type conductor 105. In a display mode, the scan pulses are successively supplied to the row electrodes one by one from the driver 102. At the same time, the driver 103 supplies the voltage to the column electrodes in response to the display data for each supply of the scan pulse. In a row coordinate detection mode, the scan pulses are successively supplied to the row electrodes and a detecting scan pulse is supplied to the part 108 with connection of the electrostatic capacity when a contact is secured between the conductor 105 and an optional position of the panel 101. In the same way, the column coordinates are detected in a column coordinate detection mode. In such a constitution, the coincidence is secured between entire display and input screens with accuracy of a single display picture element. Thus a tablet unified with a display is easily obtained at a low cost.
