PURPOSE: To provide a herbicidal composition having broad herbicidal spectrum, effective even against weeds or grown state, capable of keeping the germination- suppressing effect over a definite period and completely exterminating whole weeds by single application and having high safety to paddy rice plant.
CONSTITUTION: The objective herbicidal composition contains (A) an oxazolone derivative of formula (R is 3-4C alkynyl or tetrahydropyran-3-yl or tetrahydrofuran-3-yl which may be substituted with one or two methyl groups), e.g. 5-t-butyl-4-chloro-3[4-chloro-2-fluoro-5-(2-propynyloxy)phenyl-4-oxazolin-2-one and (B) 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl-N-(propoxyethyl)-acetanilide or 2-chloro-2',6'-diethyl- N-(butoxymethyl)-acetanilide. The effective herbicidal range of the composition extends over the weeds of the family Gramineae or Cyperaceae, general broad- leaved weeds and various perennial weeds such as bulrush, flatstage and arrowhead.
