PURPOSE: To obtain a release agent excellent in heat resistance, reduced in the load for peeling an adjacent tape from the rear of a tape even after exposure to high temperature, and excellent in the adherence even to a polyolefin base material by using a polymer or copolymer of a specified vinyl monomer as the principal constituent.
CONSTITUTION: A release agent composed mainly of a polymer or copolymer of a vinyl monomer represented by formula I or II (wherein R1 is H or CH3; m is an integer of 1 to 5; n is an integer of 1 to 2; and R2 is 12C or higher alkyl). The vinyl monomer is preferably obtained by the addition reaction of a (meth)acrylic ester represented by formula III or TV (wherein R1 is H or CH3; m is an integer of 1 to 5; and n is an integer of 1 to 10) with an alkyl isocyanate represented by the formula R2NC0 (wherein R2 is 12C or higher alkyl).
