PURPOSE: To provide a possibility of using a book binder device, which accommodates sheets for a copying machine etc., also as a programmable sorter by storing the selected bin information previously in memory and by performing book-binding or sorting while checking the bin address corresponding to the location of a deflecting device.

CONSTITUTION: A memory 60, which is designed with selectivity in correspondence to two or more bins, is furnished, and a circuit 58 to sense the position of a deflecting device, which shall deflect the sheet, is equipped. The address contents of the selected bin read out of this memory 60 is compared with the position sensing counter of deflecting device, which is sensed by a sensor circuit 58, at a comparative operating means 56. When the two are in agreement, the deflecting device is stopped, and the sheets are put in the selected bin. When no agreement is seen, by contrast, the address contents of the next selected bin shall be observed. When check of the memory in which information about bin address is stored is completed as in the abovementioned procedure, the deflecting device is now sunk for a distance corresponding to one bin to check if there is any corresponding bin address information, and if yes the sheets shall be accommodated.
