PURPOSE: To provide the method and device for inputting musical information which can precisely display notes that an input operator intends, through an easy operation.

CONSTITUTION: It is decided (SB1) first whether or not a scale is specified on staff. This scale specification is performed by bringing the tip of a pen into contact with the position corresponding to the scale of a note to be entered in the staff. Once the scale is specified, the specified scale is stored (SB2), a display is made (SB3) at the scale position, and a dot is displayed on the staff through the process of SB3. Then, it is decided (SB4) whether or not a numeral is specified, the tone length of the note is determined (SB6) corresponding to the numeral, and the determined tone length is stored in a RAM 3 (SB7). Then, the note to be entered is displayed with the scale previously stored in SB2 and the tone length stored in SB7.
