Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a protective film preventive well to the sulfurization and discoloration of silver, by subjecting the silver surface to cathodic treatment with a soln. contg. a salt consisting of Sn, In, Sb or Te and an org. acid radical. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an Ag or Ag alloy material or a product plated with Ag or an Ag alloy is subjected to cathodic treatment with a soln. contg. a salt consisting of one or more among Sn, In, Sb and Te and an org. acid radical. For example, a protective film is electrodeposited on the Ag surface in a soln. of 6-10pH contg. 0.05-1.0g/l Sn and 5-70g/l citric acid at 0.1-3.0A/dm<2> current density and 20-40 deg.C temp.
