METHOD FOR MEASURING SODIUM FRACTION OF STRONG ACIDIC CATION EXCHANGE RESIN

Abstract:

PURPOSE: To carry out the titled measurement rapidly, accurately and simply on the site, by comparing the Na concn. of a desorbed liquid obtained after an elution liquid is passed through a strong acidic cation exchange resin for a definite time to the Na concn. in the desorbed liquid preliminarily measured under a same condition.

CONSTITUTION: In treating boiler condensate by using a mixed ion exchange resin consisting of NH4-type strong acidic cation exchange resin and OH-type strong basic anion exchange resin, the Na fraction of the cation exchange resin is measured by a method as mentioned hereinbelow. That is, the mixed ion exchange resin or the strong acidic cation exchange resin separated therefrom is taken out and an eluting liquid such as aqueous ammonia free from Na and K is passed through said ion exchange resin layer. After said eluting liquid is passed for a definite time, the Na concn. in the obtained desorbed liquid is measured by a Na electrode and the measured value is compared to the Na concn. in the desorbed liquid preliminarily measured with respect to the strong acidic cation exchange resin having the known Na fraction under a same condition to measure the Na fraction.
