Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent a deformation in a diametrical direction and in a vertical direction to the diametrical direction of a cylinder from occurring reliably, by enlarging thickness of a side wall of a cylinder at its maximum deforming position. CONSTITUTION:A circular arc-shaped or crescent-shaped rib 11 is made to protrude along the circumferential surface of a side wall 4 at a location confronting to a bolt hole 8 and in its vicinity. Although a side wall 4 of a cylinder 1 is apt to deform in a diametrical direction of the cylinder 1 as shown by a chain line-cum-two dotts through tightening pressure acting upon a surrounding part of the tip of a cylinder bore of a cylinder block which is touched by a grommet part 12 of the gasket when a cylinder head 6 is secured tightly with head bolts 7 through intervention of a gasket 9, the cylinder 1 is not deformed in the diametrical direction as the side wall is reinforced by the rib 11.
