Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain external parts for a timepiece with extremely superior corrosion resistance by forming noble metallic plating on Zn plating as under plating and by chromating the noble metallic plating. CONSTITUTION:A watchcase scored on the surface which is made of German silver or the like is manufactured, and Zn plating of about 2mum thickness is formed on the watchcase as under plating. Noble metallic plating of about 3mum thickness such as 14kt. Au-Ag alloy plating is formed on the Zn plating. The noble metallic plating is then chromated by immersion in a chromate soln. The resulting watchcase does not cause corrosion and discoloration at all even after immersion in a soln. of artificial sweat.
