PURPOSE: To produce abrasion resistant castings of cylindrical or columnar shapes economically by integrating and including WC particles on the outermost layer side of a cast layer under the rotation of a metal mold of specific temps.
CONSTITUTION: Molten metal prepared in a ladle 9 is cast through a trough 11 and a spout 12 for charging into a metal mold 1 which is heated and maintained to and at ≥300°C and is rotated by means of a cantilever shaft 2 and a roller 5. At this time, preheated WC powder is added from a hopper 10 into the molten metal. The WC powder enters the inside of the mold 1 together with the molten metal, wherein the separative WC powder is integrated uniformly in the axial direction of the mold 1 and by centrifugal forces to the outside surface of the molten metal layere where solidification progresses, that is, the outermost layer of the cast layer. Thus the composite material formed continuously with both layers of the layer 13 wherein the WC powder is included densely and a base metal layer 14 in one body without boundary segmentation is obtained.
