PURPOSE: To obtain ink for a heat sensitive sheet capable of being applied to a substrate without heating and enabled in multicolor coating, by using a composition prepared by dispersing fine particulate wax and a colorant in a volatile dispersing medium as the ink for the transfer type heat sensitive sheet.

CONSTITUTION: Fine particulate substance with a particle size of 1μm or less comprising wax selected from natural wax, oxidized wax, ester wax, low M.W. polyethylene and a derivative thereof and microcrystalline wax and a colorant such as carbon black, an azo pigment or the like are dispersed in a volatile dispersing medium. This volatile dispesing medium dissolves the wax component under heating but does not dissolves the same under cooling and has a m.p. of 60W200°C and alipathic or aromatic hydrocarbon is represented as said dispersing medium. In addition, the colorant is used in an amount of 0.3W2.5wt% based on the total amount of ink and the fine particulate wax is used in an amount of 4W20wt%. Thus obtained ink is applied to a carrier by gravure printing coating to form transfer layer.
