Abstract:
An invention relating to novel compounds and compositions of matter for use in alleviating the symptoms of a number of diseases, especially those caused by viral infection of mammals, including humans, is disclosed. Compositions of the present invention contain as an active ingredient novel derivatives of the phospholipid type which are characterized in that a chemical group not found in naturally occurring phospholipids is covalently bound to the phosphate group of the phosphatidyl residue. The invention also discloses compounds and pharmaceutical compositions for therapeutic use and a therapeutic method for treating a number of diseases, especially those related to viral infections.
