PURPOSE: To provide the digital portable radio telephony equipment, which can miniaturize a hand set, by automatically recording a telephone call, which is made through a base unit to the hand set, at the base unit.

CONSTITUTION: The digital portable radio telephony equipment is provided with the hand set and base unit, which are respectively equipped with automatic recording means 19, and can perform radio communication with the hand set between the base unit and a base station. The hand set is provided with a call incoming request signal deciding means 23 for deciding whether a call incoming request signal comes from the base unit or from the base station and automatic answering control signal output means 22 for outputting a control signal to press the start of the automatic recording means at the base unit when the call incoming request signal comes from the base unit, and the base unit is provided with an automatic answering control means for activating the automatic recording means of the base unit when that control signal is inputted. When the telephone call is made through the base station to the hand set, recording is performed by the automatic recording means 19 of the hand set and when the telephone call is made through the base unit to the hand set, recording is performed by the automatic recording means of the base unit.
