PURPOSE: To realize economical and reliable contacting and separating actions of an electrifying roller by securing sufficient contact area and contact pressure and a gap at the time of separation with simple constitution.
CONSTITUTION: This contacting and separating mechanism for the electrifying roller 106 is provided with a photoreceptor driving means rotating and driving a photoreceptor belt 100 by winding it around a driving roller 101 and the electrifying roller 106 electrifying the belt 100. In the mechanism, an arm-like bearing member 114 holding a driving roller gear 111 driving the roller 101 and turning with the shaft of the gear 111 as a fulcrum is equipped with a backup roller 113 performing the contacting/separating actions to/from the electrifying roller 106 from the inside of the belt 100 at the other end of the arm-like bearing member 114 on an opposite side to an idle gear 112 in a state where the idle gear 112 is meshed with gear 111.
