PURPOSE: To improve accuracy of tape winding, in an automatic taping device for a tortoise-shaped coil and the like, by directly coupling pulse generators to rotary shafts of DC motors and fetching a pulse, in proportion to a rotary angle, to an arithmetic control circuit.

CONSTITUTION: A tortoise-shaped coil 1, to be applied with taping, is mountd to a supporter 3, and a head part 27 is moved to align the center of a rotary ring 4 to a setting point A of the coil, then dimensions of the coil and specification of the taping are input to an arithmetic control circuit 5 by a keyboard 32. Then the end part of an insulating tape is glued to a surface of the coil to operate a control panel 28. The arithmetic control circuit 5 feeds rotary speed signals which has been already calculated and stored, of four shafts of motors 14W17 successively from the first section A→B to rotate the four shafts of DC motors, on the basis of signals of pulse generators 22, 23, a running position of the rotary ring 4 is obtained, and a determined speed command signal is fed to respective drive units 10W13. Further when a relative error is caused between detected speed signals of the motor in each shaft, synchronous operation control is performed with ω shaft as the reference.
