Abstract:
Electrical installation as described, with a battery which, as applicable, consists of several partial batteries which can be charged from a diesel generator, and supplies power to the electricity users on board. In order to improve the protection against location detection of submarines with such equipment and also to reduce the power consumption of such plant, the rotary drive systems are in the form of d.c. machines, avoiding central a.c. networks or of machines fed via rectifiers from the a.c. network, and preferably for each item of equipment an inherent power supply is provided whereby the necessary auxiliary voltages and supply voltages inside the equipment are directly produced from the battery network via network supply units. For the power supply to the equipment it is advantageous to use cycled network equipment in which the cycle frequency is located, for safety reasons, above the receiving frequency range of foreign location detection systems.
