PURPOSE: To enable recording papers of first recorded papers and second recorded papers to be separated and arranged in the direction and in the faces of the paper, by placing the first papers recorded by moving an original forward and reading the lower face, and the second papers recorded by moving the original backward and reading the upper face, on each separate discharge tray.

CONSTITUTION: A sheet of original is moved forward and its underside image is read with a read unit 20 at a position A on an original conveyance locus, then moved backward, and its upside image is read at a position B with a read unit 21. Recording is carried out on recording paper 50 or 52 fed from a cassette 51 or 53. At that time, the recording paper 50 recorded when the original is moved forward is sent to a first discharge tray 91 and the paper 52 recorded when backward is sent to a second discharge tray 92 by changing over an upper claw 100 to or from the position of a broken line from or to that of a broken line. The papers are stacked on each separate tray with the direction and the faces exactly accorded.
