PURPOSE: To surely read information by allowing a correction means to correct a card between a set position and a tray so as to read the card information.

CONSTITUTION: When a card 10 is set to a predetermined position, a tray 11 is pulled into the reader. Concretely a motor 12a is driven by a signal from a control section to drive a belt 12b thereby moving the tray 11 in the left direction in the direction of arrow mark A. Both a roller 16 and a 1st head 13 are in contact with the card 10, the roller 16 presses the card 10 onto the tray and the 1st heat 13 reads magnetic data on the card. Then the tray 11 is moved and in contact with a roller 17 and further moved and when its tip touches with a position sensor 11b, the tray is stopped by a stop signal from the control section. That is, the tray 11 is follower-driven with the card 10 by rollers 16, 17 pressing the surface of the card 11 to make the card 11 flat while the card 10 is pressed onto a step face of the tray 11.
