PURPOSE: To provide the KANJI(Chinese character) converting device which eliminates the need to remember the index code of a word that a user has registered and efficiently performs the conversion of the registered word, the registration of a word, and the deletion of the registered word from a file.
CONSTITUTION: The KANJI converting device which converts reading KANA (Japanese syllabary) into KANJI performs arithmetic based upon a specific function using an index code by a dictionary rearrangement part 16 to extract a block corresponding to the index code of a desired word in a learning dictionary 17 at a high speed when the registration of a word or the deletion of a registered word from the learning dictionary 17 where the word that a user desires can be registered is performed. A retrieval part 14 also retrieves a word in the block by said corresponding block taking-out method and performs KANA-KANJI conversion of the reading KANA registered in the learning dictionary 14.
