Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain easily and inexpensively a 5,6-dehydroamino sugar derivative useful as an intermediate for synthesizing a constituent amino sugar of anthracyclin showing a carcinostatic action, by dehydrobrominating a 6-bromoamino sugar derivative with a cyclic amidine.
CONSTITUTION: A 6-bromoamino sugar derivative shown by the formula I (R1 is H, or NH2-protecting group; R2 is alkyl) is dehydrobrominated with 1.3W10 times as much cyclic amidine [e.g., 1,8-diazabicyclo(5,4,0)undec-7-ene, etc.] as the compound shown by the formula I by equivalent to give the desired compound shown by the formula II. The reaction is preferably carried out in a benzene solbent at 50W80°C.
